For the third year running Ventura PAL is proud to announce we will be sponsoring the Ventura County Police Hogs Football Team.
The team is comprised of police officers from the Ventura Police Department, Oxnard Police Department, Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office, and officers from the California Youth Authority.
The Ventura County Police Hogs Football Team competes against other law enforcement agencies from throughout Southern California.
As the primary sponsor PAL will receive ALL proceeds from the PAL Bowl to be played on Saturday, March 24 at Buena High School. Festivities begin at 5:00 p.m. with kickoff at 5:30. This year the Hogs will be taking on the Fontana Eagles. The event promises to be a great evening of family fun and we look forward to seeing you there.

On Friday, June 7, 2013 we will be holding our 16th Annual PAL Golf Tournament proudly presented by Aera Energy at the Olivas Links Golf Course in Ventura, CA. Last year, the event raised over $30,000 in support of our local youth and after school activities and programs.
This event is our main fundraiser of the year and our goal for 2013 is to of course beat our total from last year; but we can’t do it without YOUR generous support.
The day promises to be a fun filled day of golf, prizes, great food (lunch will be provided by Scooter’s BBQ), and camaraderie. The best part is all money raised stays local and helps support our goal of providing our youth with positive after school activities to counteract the risk factors often present in their daily lives.
Players will have an opportunity to win cars, awards, and cash prizes ranging from $500 to over $250,000, through various Hole In One, putting contest, and other specialty holes.
Here’s how you can help us continue to make a difference in the lives of our local youth…..
We want to thank all of you in advance for your support. If you have any questions about the golf tournament or the PAL program, please call 805.339.4443.

Once again this year our department, and our non-profit foundation the Ventura Police Activities League, have teamed up with the Castro Family for the 3rd Annual Ventura County Medical Center (VCMC) Pediatric Oncology and Hematology Toy Drive – happening now through December 20th.
Ten year old Corey Castro was diagnosed with Gorham’s Disease (an extremely rare bone disease) in September 2008. This disease has affected his hip, pelvis, spine and ribs but not his courageous and generous spirit. Over the last couple years Corey, and his sister Paige, collected toys for the VCMC Treatment Center with great success, raising more than $5,000 in toys and monetary donations. Our goal again this year is to provide each patient and their siblings with gifts so as to help brighten their holidays. Toys and gifts should be between $10 to $20 and if you would like to make a donation please contact Dan Castro at 805.377.8007 or via e-mail at dannycast@aol.com. Thank you in advance for your help and generosity.
The following flyer, and links to previois articles, provides additional information on the Toy Drive, Cory, and his disease.
